GA KidMin will once again be hosting our PK (Pastor’s Kids)/MK (Missionary’s Kids) Retreat on Tuesday, May 28 through Thursday, May 30 at Timber Lake Retreat Center in Forsyth.
The theme for this year’s retreat is “Survivor: Timberlake”. The reality show “Survivor” tests a person’s skills to survive in an unknown environment. When it comes to living for Jesus, it is not about survival; it’s about thriving in a relationship with Him each and every day. This will be the focus of this year’s retreat.
This retreat is a gift from our Superintendent John Dougherty, the Presbytery, and the Georgia District to all children ages 7-12 whose parent(s) are currently credentialed (certified, licensed, or ordained) with the GA District Assemblies of God. There is no charge for your kids to attend this retreat. Students will experience challenging worship services, small group interaction, and lots of fun! We have a group of our Children’s Pastors and some of our very own high school/college PKs/ MKs who are ready to love on and have fun with your kids. We want each student to know how uniquely gifted, valuable, and special they truly are. One of our main goals is that our PKs/MKs will build a lasting bond with each other as many of our teenage PKs/MKs have. My own two children have made many strong, lasting friendships that were built and encouraged at the retreat hosted by the District Youth Department.
Included with this letter you will find a tentative schedule and what your student needs to bring for the weekend. We do ask that you pick up your child during the designated pick up time. Please register your kids online at www.gakidmin.org by Sunday, May 5. If you do not have the ability to register online, please contact our administrative assistant, Liz Reneau, via email (elizabeth@gadistag.org) or via phone (478.405.5901) and she will help you as needed.
My wife Misty and I personally look forward to spending this time with your kids! We believe this will be one of the most significant moments in the lives of your children. Please let me know if you have any question or need any further information.
Sincerely,
Russell Smith
